and the plastic virgin kneels on earl's chair hands folded

and because of water striders and raccoons and the curling

tendrils of my lover's ex-hair as it lies against his damp ex-

neck where i long to press my ex-lips remembering the moon and

the fire-pits when lake erie simmered and the world was smaller

than any word we settled on
